For those of you planning to go into journalism after you finish school, it is time to begin thinking about applying for summer internships. Yes, already. With that in mind, here are some upcoming deadlines for internship applications.

Toronto Star: the deadline for the summer program is Nov. 16. There is a reporting program as well as a radio room program; internships last for 12 weeks and are paid.

Montreal Gazette: the deadline is Nov. 23. The Gazette is looking for “reporters, digital editors, copy editors and designers,” and internships last from late May to the end of August. Mail applications to internships@montrealgazette.com. Note: you must be fluently bilingual to qualify.

Canadian Press: the deadline is Nov. 30. CP is looking for reporting, editing and online qualifications. Mail applications to: Marissa D’Mello

If you are looking to work outside Canada for the summer, there are also some international internships available.

Reuters: deadline is Dec. 1. Placements are available in: New York City, Washington D.C., Sao Paulo, Mexico City, London, Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Beijing. Apply at careers.thomsonreuters.com.

Check with your local daily or alt weekly to see about internships with them, as many hire without advertising. You’ll only find out if you call!
