2026 Annual General Meeting

What to expect at the CUP AGM:

  • Estimated 2.5 hour online meeting

  • At least one person from each member paper must be in attendance

  • If no one from your member paper can join, you will need to assign a proxy

  • Expect to hear board reports from the executive team

  • Expect to vote on who will be your CUP89 executive board

  • Occasionally, other voting decisions are made

  • One vote per member paper


Assigning a proxy:

  • A member’s proxy may only be taken up by another member

  • No member may hold more than two proxies

  • Notice of proxy must be given to the Chair (President Andrew Mrozowski) in writing by the member giving over its vote

Regional Representatives:


  • Central Representative

  • Western Representative

  • Eastern Representative

  • Prairies Representative


Regional representatives are CUP board members who relay regional member information and concerns to the executive committee. Regional representatives are expected to hold regular meetings with members in their region and attend CUP general meetings.


Executive Board:


  • President

    • Spokesperson of CUP

    • Chair of Board and Executive Committee

  • Vice-President

    • Chair the Board or Executive Committee if the President is absent

    • Primary focus is on John H. McDonald Awards

  • Treasurer

    • Supervises the financial affairs of CUP

  • Director of Operations

    • Acts as the custodian of all books, paper, records, documents and other instruments belonging to CUP

  • Director of Communications

    • Oversees all CUP communications including electronic mail, social media and website

    • There is an opportunity for a second communications board member to be elected to assist the Director


Executive board members must attend all board meetings throughout their term, with no more than three absences.


Each board position shall be elected for a one-year term, commencing on Oct. 1 (or such shorter term if appointed after Oct.1), expiring on Sept. 30 of the subsequent year.
